Languages

 Their national language is Filipino, which is based on Tagalog and also English as an official language. Scholarly studies suggest that there are some 150 languages and dialects spoken.  Tagalog is the most extensive written language. Cebuano, Hiligaynon and Waray-Waray are the most prominent languages of the Central Philippine group. The languages used in the Northern Philippine subfamily are Kapampangans and Pangasinan. In the Southern Philippine subfamily, the most notable languages are Manguindanao and Maranao.
